A. Solubility: Polyvinyl alcohol powder can dissolve in water. Polyvinyl alcohol resin (PVA) with a alcohol solution of less than 95% can dissolve in the water at room temperature, and the PVA resin (PVA) with the Alcoholysis degree greater than 99.5% can only dissolve in hot water with more than 95 ℃.

B. thermal stability: Polyvinyl alcohol will be softened when heated, no significant changes in the following 40 ℃, 160 ℃ above, long-time heating will gradually stain, 220 ℃ above the decomposition occurs, the formation of water, acetic acid, acetaldehyde and butene aldehyde.

C. chemical resistance: PVA is almost not affected by weak acid, weak alkali or organic solvents, high oil resistance.

D. storage Stability: PVA is a low viscosity polymer, its aqueous solution at room temperature is very stable. The aqueous solution will not deteriorate during storage.

E. film-forming: Due to the high adhesion between PVA molecules, PVA easy to film, the formation of thin-film transparent, with good mechanical strength, smooth surface, and no sticky, good solubility resistance. The molecular membrane has good transmittance, high moisture permeability, no electrification, no dust absorption and good printability.

PVA can be regarded as a linear polymer with secondary hydroxyl. The hydroxyl group in the molecule has high activity, and can carry on the typical chemical reaction of the low alcohols, such as esterification, Etherification, acetal, etc., and can also react with many inorganic compounds or organic compounds.

Polyvinyl alcohol 17-92 abbreviation PVA 17-92, white granules or powder shape. Soluble in water, dissolution temperature 75~80℃. Another performance is basically the same as pva17-88. Emulsifying stabilizer used as emulsion polymerization. Used in the manufacture of water-soluble adhesives.

PVA17-99 solution to the domestic pva17-88 more sensitive to the gel than the 0.1% of the solution quality of borax will make 5%pva17-99 aqueous solution gel, and the same concentration of PVA 17-88 aqueous solution gel of the amount of borax is 1%. For PVA aqueous solution with the same concentration and same alcoholysis, borax is more prone to gel than boric acid. Pva17-99 is more tolerant to benzene, chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, ethers, hydrocarbons and other solvents than pva17-88. Heated to 100 ℃ above gradual discoloration, 150 ℃ more quickly chronotropic, 200 ℃ above will decompose. The properties of the discoloration of polyvinyl alcohol during heating can be inhibited by adding 0.5%~3% boric acid. Light resistance is good, not affected by light.

Poly ethanol 17-99b is mainly used in the manufacture of high viscosity polyvinyl acetal. Widely used as the dispersant of sizing materials. Other types of 17-99 are used as emulsion stabilizers for polyvinyl acetate emulsion polymerization, but the effect is not as good as 17-88 and is generally mixed with 17-99 and 17-88. 17-99 for the manufacture of polyvinyl formal aqueous solution (mainly 107 building glue). 17-99 also used for the preparation of benzene-resistant solvents sealant. stored in a cool, dry warehouse, moisture, fire.
